What to include when you send a spares enquiry
The fastest way to match the right part is to send clear equipment details from the nameplate and the old component if you still have it. We work on site and from photos, so even if the plant is down you can still start the enquiry and keep the job moving.
- Equipment type: boiler, calorifier, inline heater or incinerator
- Plant location: Boksburg, Kempton Park, Germiston, Pretoria, Midrand, Sandton or another site
- Model and serial number from the nameplate
- Part description, for example control relay, burner component, sensor, seal, valve or actuator
- Photo of the faulty item and any markings on the casing
- Quantity needed and whether it is for planned maintenance or a breakdown
If the nameplate is faded or missing, send a clear photo of the unit and any visible data. That still helps us narrow it down and avoid the wrong supply.
Common replacement items we help source
Most spares enquiries fall into a few groups. Some parts are for immediate breakdown repairs, while others are consumable items that should be kept on hand before winter demand or an audit visit. We also help with matched replacements where the original item has been discontinued and a practical alternative is needed.
- Burner and combustion components
- Control panels, relays, sensors and switches
- Gaskets, seals, valves and fittings
- Pressure and temperature related items
- Pumps, solenoids and associated hardware
- Water treatment consumables for boiler protection
- Refractory materials and repair items for hot sections
Where a part affects safety or legal compliance, we check the specification before supply. That matters on plants with municipal inspections, insurance checks or scheduled shutdowns because a quick fit is not worth a future fault.
How to send your request for faster feedback
Use email for the cleanest record, especially if you want pricing, lead times or multiple line items. If the plant is off line and you need urgent help, mark the message as an emergency callout and include the site contact name so the service team can respond without delay.
- Send the enquiry to engineering@ai-tec.co.za
- Use one email per machine if you can, this keeps the parts list clear
- Attach photos, sketches or previous service notes
- State if the site has load-shedding interruptions or limited access hours
- Tell us if the equipment is on a factory floor, roof, basement or utility room
For multi-site companies, we can separate items by branch and delivery point. That is useful for facilities teams managing stores in Sandton, Midrand, Pretoria and the East Rand at the same time.
Checking compatibility before you order
Some components look the same but work differently once fitted. A matching thread size, voltage rating, pressure range or temperature rating can make the difference between a quick repair and another shutdown call. We therefore check compatibility before confirming supply wherever the item is part of a control circuit or safety path.
If you are sending a sample part, wrap it properly and label the package with the site name and contact number. Do not leave loose small items in an envelope with no description because fittings and sensors can be mixed up very easily in transit. When the old part is damaged beyond reading, measurements and photos usually help enough to identify the closest match.
Lead times, collection and delivery
Some service items can be turned around quickly from stock or local supply lines. More specialised items may need a confirmation step or fabrication support, especially where the existing plant has been modified over the years. If there is a shutdown window, tell us the date upfront so we can work backwards from it.
- Collection can be arranged from the Jet Park, Boksburg base by prior notice
- Delivery can be arranged to commercial sites in Gauteng
- National courier support is available for suitable small parts
- Urgent breakdowns are handled through the service counter and technician team
For coastal plants, we also keep in mind corrosion and humidity, which can shorten the life of some items if the wrong material is used. A part that lasts in a dry inland plant may need a better finish or a different seal type closer to the coast.
When spares tie into maintenance work
Many enquiries lead straight into maintenance because the failed item is only one sign of a bigger issue. A worn valve may point to water quality trouble, while repeated sensor faults can indicate combustion problems or poor electrical conditions. In those cases, replacing only one item can waste money and time.
Ai-TEC supports boiler servicing, calorifier maintenance, inline heater repairs, incinerator servicing, combustion tuning, refractory relining, water treatment support, annual inspections and plant refurbishment. If your enquiry forms part of a shutdown list, send the full scope and we will help sequence the work so one site visit does more than one job.
Who will handle your enquiry
Your request is handled by a local team that knows industrial plant and the pressure of getting equipment back online. Lerato Maseko manages operations, Pieter van der Merwe handles project engineering, Zanele Dlamini coordinates service, Musa Khumalo works on boiler technical support, Ayesha Patel handles commercial queries, and Johan Smit oversees fabrication support. That means your spares request does not disappear into a general inbox.
From Boksburg to Pretoria and beyond, we keep the process practical: identify the item, confirm the fit, quote clearly, then get it moving. If the unit is down and the site is affected by production pressure or cold water demand, tell us that upfront so we can treat it with the right urgency.
